For slow travellers, photographers and history lovers — the Harbin most tourists rush past: Baroque courtyards, synagogues and century-old churches.
Qiulin, Saint Sophia, Central Street & the Flood Control Tower. Begin among the three churches near Qiulin, then ride to Architecture Art Plaza for Saint Sophia Cathedral. Follow Central Street to the river and end at the Flood Control Tower before crossing to Sun Island.
Old Daowai & the New Jewish Synagogue. Wander the morning market, then lose yourself in the Zhonghua Baroque lanes of old Daowai, hunting the famous local snacks. After lunch visit the New Jewish Synagogue (RMB 25, 8:30–16:30) and the old synagogue site for the city's history.
Old Daowai is best in the late morning when food stalls are open; look inside the courtyards behind the grand facades. The New Jewish Synagogue and several churches keep short winter hours, so start early. Our team can arrange hotels near Central Street and a private driver for the Daowai and Qiulin areas free of charge (see Harbin hotels).
Our team arranges hotels, festival tickets, ski trips and transfers in Harbin free of charge — one message is all it takes.
