Out to the Sino-Vietnamese border to the Detian Waterfall — Asia's largest transnational and the world's second-largest, a 200-metre-wide two-tier curtain of jade water dropping into the Guichun River, with Vietnam's Ban Gioc falls across the bank. Early start; bookable end-to-end by our team.
Out to the border. Take the 08:30 special tourist coach from Langdong Coach Station (186 Minzu Avenue, Qingxiu · +86 771 5508 333) — the only direct service to the Detian gate. The road runs southwest through Daxin County, past the "little Guilin" karst of Mingshi pastoral scenery, the Black River and the Shadun cascade; allow about 3 hours. Entry ¥80 (day ticket + shuttle about ¥115).
The falls and the stele. Walk the boardwalk from the ticket gate: Detian Waterfall itself — two tiers, 200 m wide, with bamboo rafts nosing up to the spray; across the river you see Vietnam's Ban Gioc fall. Continue to the Number 53 boundary stele, the Qing-era marker on the border, and the viewing platform over the border market. Lunch at a simple farmhouse restaurant near Shuolong town.
Return. The special coach leaves the Detian gate at 15:30 sharp — if you miss it you will need to backtrack via Daxin County bus, which is slow. Back in Nanning by early evening. With an extra day, sleep in Shuolong or Daxin and add the Mingshi pastoral bike loop the next morning.
Hotels, Detian tickets, Daming shuttles, train seats and Vietnam transfers arranged by our team — free of charge, no obligation.
Langdong Coach Station (186 Minzu Ave) is the direct 08:30 service; return 15:30. On your own, buses to Daxin County run from the North Coach Station, then change to a Detian local — doable but awkward. Our team books the direct coach free.
Scenic-area entry ¥80; day ticket + shuttle combos about ¥115; farmhouse lunch ~¥50; bamboo raft optional. Our team books the whole package free.
