Daming Mountain Day Trip
Two hours north to Daming Mountain — the "back garden of Nanning", a 93%-forested mountain that is 8-10°C cooler than the city, with the canyon viewpoint, Golden Turtle waterfall and the ten-li rhododendron sea each April. Day Plan
Up the mountain. Jinshan Square in the city has been rebuilt, so the easiest option is the organised tour or shuttle from Nanning (about 2 hours to Wuming, then the scenic gate). Entry ¥128 plus ¥30 for the mountain shuttle from the foot to the Sky Lawn service area. At the top, walk the Guanfo Platform and Wanzhong Mountain buddha-light overlook, then the deep gorge trail.
Lunch on the mountain. Eat at the simple restaurant near the Sky Lawn — mountain vegetables, free-range chicken and local rice. Bring a jacket; it is 8-10°C cooler up top and often wrapped in cloud. Check the weather the night before (www.gxdms.com); on heavy-fog days the road can close.
Golden Turtle waterfall & return. Walk the Golden Turtle Waterfall scenic area — long-branch fir forest, the view to Goddess Peak, Immortal Terrace, Snake-knife Stone and Lotus Platform. In April and May, the ten-li rhododendron sea from Longhu to Guanguan Mountain is the highlight. Return to Nanning by late afternoon.

Shuttle logistics
The pick-up point is no longer Jinshan Square; the organised tour from Nanning is the practical choice. Self-driving is possible but the cloud and fog can be serious — call the scenic area the night before and take the shuttle rather than the mountain road.
