The twin crescent bays of Shuangyue Bay, China's only sea-turtle nesting beach and a Ming walled town — the most photographic day on the Huidong coast. Bookable end-to-end by our team.
The double crescents. Drive east along the Huidong coast to Shuangyue Bay and climb Daxing Hill to the viewpoint — the famous panorama of two crescent bags wrapping the fishing town, one calm, one surf-washed. Down at the harbour, walk the beaches and watch the fishing boats.
The turtle reserve. Continue to the Sea Turtle Nature Reserve (¥15, +86 752 856 0336) at Gangkou — China's only national sea-turtle nesting beach, a 1,000 m crescent of fine sand under Daxing Hill. In summer, green turtles haul ashore after dark to lay; the conservation centre explains the work.
Pinghai Ancient City. Finish at Pinghai Ancient City — a Ming fortress of 1385 with four gate towers, the cross-shaped old street and Hakka brick houses, a 'living fossil of Lingnan culture'. Lunch on seafood and Hakka dishes, then the drive back to Huizhou.
Resorts, mountain tickets, hot springs, train seats and guides arranged by our team — free of charge, no obligation.
Shuangyue Bay and Gangkou are on the Huidong coast, a long drive or a short charter from Xunliao. From Huizhou, take the Huidong bus then local connections; our team arranges a car for the loop.
Shuangyue viewpoint free · turtle reserve ¥15 · Pinghai free. Add transport and seafood lunch. Our team books the reserve and car free.
