Out to the Golden Bay Mangrove — a coastal sea-forest of stilt-rooted mangroves alive with egrets and mudskippers, the wetland where the dugong (the legendary mermaid) still grazes the seagrass. An easy, gentle half day from the city; bookable by our team.
The boardwalk. Arrive after breakfast (open about 07:00–19:00 in summer) and take the sightseeing cart loop through the mangrove park. Ticket about RMB 20, ticket plus cart about RMB 60. Walk the raised boardwalk over the tidal flats — the stilt roots hold the mud, the egrets roost in the green canopy and the mudskippers skip across the water at low tide.
Birds & the coast. Dawn and dusk are the bird-rich hours; bring a long lens for the egrets and herons. The offshore seagrass beds are the dugong's feeding ground — the gentle sea cow that sailors mistook for mermaids. Allow 2–3 hours on the boardwalk, then return to the city.
Back to the city. Pair the morning with lunch at Qiaogang (Vietnamese sweet soups and rice rolls) or, if you have the light, the Silver Beach swim and the 'Chao' fountain at dusk. The full Yingluo mangrove national reserve (the dugong habitat proper) is a longer outing 115 km away in Hepu — combine it with a Xingdao Lake trip if you have a full day.
Ferry tickets, bikes, diving and guides arranged by our team — free of charge, no obligation.
A taxi from the city centre to the park costs about RMB 30–40 each way; combine with the Silver Beach leg for one easy coastal loop. Morning and late afternoon are the best light and bird times.
Ticket about RMB 20; ticket plus sightseeing cart about RMB 60; child fares lower. The boardwalk is flat and stroller-friendly; wear closed shoes for the tidal mud.
Qiaogang style street for sweet soups (Gangwan Sweet Soup, +86 779 388 2117) and Vietnamese rice rolls; or Waisha Danjiapeng for mantis shrimp (~RMB 100 pp).
