Dalian has four distinct seasons. Pack by season: winter demands a down jacket; summer is T-shirts and sandals; spring and autumn need layers. A windproof hat is a good idea any season — the sea breeze is real.

- Winter (late Nov–early Mar): Down jacket, sweater, gloves, jeans, warm trousers, sturdy shoes (low around –14°C).
- Spring (Mar–May): Jacket, sweater, long sleeves (~15°C).
- Summer (Jun–early Sep): T-shirts, shorts, skirts, sandals, sun hat, sunglasses (up to 30–32°C).
- Autumn (late Sep–early Nov): Light jacket, thin sweater (16–20°C).
