The Shunan Bamboo Sea is the largest bamboo forest on the planet — 120 square kilometres of green ocean over 28 ridges, where the film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon danced across the treetops. The Jade Corridor's red-earth lane, the Wangyou Valley's waterfalls, the 2,742-metre cable car and the Seven-Colour Waterfall fill the days; the bamboo shoots, bamboo-skin and the bamboo-forest banquets fill the table. The greenest world heritage of Sichuan, an hour from Yibin.
The 1.5-km red-earth lane between towering bamboo — the most photographed walk in the sea, and a film set of Crouching Tiger.
From the Ink Creek valley to the View-Sea Tower — 350 m of climb over the green canopy.
The 200-metre cascade of the Feiyun Gorge — seven colours in the spray, at its best in summer.
The bamboo rafts of the Fairy Lake — small rafts RMB 80 for four, big rafts RMB 220 for eight.
The all-bamboo feast — bamboo shoots, bamboo fungus, bamboo-skin dishes and the bamboo-pith eggs.
The bamboo-woven scroll of Along the River During the Qingming Festival — a million bamboo strands in one picture.
The famous red-earth lane under the green arches — the emblem of the sea.
Wangyou Valley's stream and the Seven-Colour Waterfall — water in the bamboo.
The cable car over the green ocean — the ridge views that give the sea its name.
The bamboo villages at the lake edges — rafts, tea and the quiet green.
April–October is the lush season — spring for the bamboo shoots, summer for the waterfalls and the cool shade, October for the golden light. December is the discounted off-season at RMB 60. Winter is quiet but cold in the forest.
Peak (Jan 1–Nov 30) costs RMB 110; December RMB 60. Concessions (60–69 years, children 1.1–1.4 m, full-time students below bachelor level) pay RMB 55 peak / 30 off. The cable car is extra, and the rafts run RMB 80–220.
Chengdu's New South Gate station runs a daily 08:00 coach (4 h, RMB 85) direct to the sea. Otherwise take the Yibin–Changning bus (every 12 min, RMB 10, about 1 h) then the Changning–Bamboo Sea bus (every 15 min, about 40 min). Yibin's Caiba Airport serves the region.
One day covers the Jade Corridor, the cable car and the main waterfalls by shuttle; two days let you add the rafts, the museum and the night in a bamboo village — the better rhythm.

The bamboo has grown here for centuries, tended by the villages of the ridges; the park opened in the 1980s and the canopy fights of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) made it famous worldwide. The museum's woven Qingming scroll honours the region's bamboo craft.
