The Altai classic - Burqin and Wucaitan, two nights at Kanas, a night in Hemu and the golden lake views.
Urumqi to Burqin - fly to Kanas airport or take the overnight train to Beitun and the coach on; evening walk along the Ertix riverfront of Burqin town.
Wucaitan Rainbow Beach at dusk, then the Burqin-Jiadenyu shuttle (RMB 37) into the Kanas scenic area and the shuttle to the lakeside villages.
The full Kanas day - the lake boardwalks, the boat ride, Guanyu Pavilion for the panorama, and a Tuva family visit or the bonfire in the evening.
Morning shuttle to the Shenxian Bay, Moon Bay and Wolong Bay viewpoints, then on to Hemu - the log village and the dusk walk to the Dawn Platform.
Hemu at first light - the golden birches and the village roofs - then the return shuttle to Jiadenyu and the road or flight back to Urumqi.
