Why Qing shrimp from Wuhu?

Qing shrimp is one of the nationally recognized “One Village One Product” specialties of Maqiao Village, Wanzhi District, Wanzhi District, Wuhu, Anhui province, China. The program, run by China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, certifies villages whose signature agricultural or handicraft product has become a local economic pillar and a point of regional pride. Sourced from local waters, the product is a celebrated regional delicacy, served fresh or preserved in time-honored ways.

The certified village is located in Wanzhi District, Wuhu — usually within an hour or two of the city center. Many One Village One Product villages welcome visitors for orchard and field visits, product tastings and cultural experiences.
